Be cautious, wise and gentle in this world.

How to Get There

I received an email from an aquaintance calling Christians to arms and protest that religious broadcasting was about to be taken off the American airwaves. Two minutes later I got a second email saying ignore the first email, it was false information.

When Jesus sends out the 12 in Matthew 10, among other things, He tells them to be 'wary as serpents and harmless as doves." We as Christians are often rather guilible, running to buy the newest Christian book, recording, hear the newest 'in' preacher preaching on something we already know. Walmart and such do not carry Christian recordings and books to spread the gospel, then sell them to make a profit. Radio and TV stations don't carry Christian programming to spread the gospel, it's because often 'religion' pays more consitently. Commercials and advertisers aren't out there to enlighten you, they're out there to sell a product.

Read James 4:4-8 in the Living Bible. It spells it out pretty clearly, "making friends with God's enemies-the evil pleasures of this world-makes you and enemy of God?" Remember the commercials are trying to sell you something, something that you probably don't need.

Look at stuff carefully. If it's not of God, it's probably of the enemy. Remember Romans 12:2 "And be not conformed to this world" but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." (KJV)

Be wary as you walk in this world, not conforming to it, but conforming to God. Accept Jesus for who He says He is, God present with us in human form, the form was excecuted for our sins, and because of that, our sins can be forgiven. When you have done that, what is God's and what is the world become increasingly clear.
